PHYSICS OF SPORTS VIDEO
For this project we worked together to draw, film, and produce a video. Our goal in this project was to give people a better understanding of the "Forces behind Archery." With visual evidence, animations and our calculations, we explained how to factor variables into a shot so every shot will hit a target. The skills and information in this video will ensure winning competitions and destroy zombies.
Equations and terms
Projectile Motion - The 2 elements to Projectile motion is horizontal and vertical velocity. Horizontal velocity is found by dividing the distance something travels over time. Vertical velocity is found using the acceleration of gravity (9.8 m/s/s.) An arrow is very aerodynamic and fast, so for our purposes, we used horizontal velocity.
Velocity - The speed and direction that an object moves. v=d÷t (Velocity = distance over time)
Pressure - Is the ratio of force applied to a certain area. P=F÷t (pressure = Force over time)
Momentum and Impulse - It is how much "swing" (force) you put initially on an object before you release it. Even though Momentum (p) and Impulse () are the same, they have different equations: p= so mv=Ft

what we did
This image is of our storyboard. Once we decided that archery was the sport, We made a storyboard to plan what types of shots, and info we would put into our video. Surprisingly, We spent more time drawing and editing on our storyboard than actually filming. Brandon made animations for the images on the storyboard. After we finished our storyboard and research on archery, we spent the time editing and recording on imovie. We originally thought about having a "hunger games" theme to it but another group already took the idea.

Some difficulties we had was editing. It was very hard to cut our video clips at the exact second. Also the sound tapes were very hard to make because when replayed, there would be an audible ringing noise in the background. We had to record the clips on a phone send them to my email, download them to the desktop, then reformat the sound clips to fit in imovie. Another mishap is the calculations. Even the slightest mistake in our video was hard to fix because of all the editing and adjusting. It took us a very long time to finish and tern in our project. I personally think archery is a cool concept to look into. There are a lot of factors that go in to an archery shot.
