About Our Project
While classifying which of our possible solutions for each sub-function would work best, we took many concerns into account. Our project's goal is to make a functioning energy efficient home concept that can be scaled up to the size of a real home, and so we had to make sure every idea was scalable. This meant throwing out ideas that worked well in our small model but would fail to function well in a large home, like a heat dish. Since we are not professional contractors, we also had to make sure our ideas could be feasibly accomplished by people with no preexisting experience in the field, which ruled out many kinds of insulation. The most important considerations were for the material or solution to both achieve its function well and be a reasonable price.
