Sponge dissection and Observation
Objective: We used microscope with magnifying eyepieces to learn about one of the most basic life forms; Sponge. Sponge or Proifera, are small organisms that eat waste and break down particles into smaller more fine particles.
PROCEDURE
My partner and I got a hold of small sponge samples to dissect. The sponge was fairly small (A few mm) and we didn't learn much from them. Sponges (besides Protists) are the most simple of organisms. I did identify a few parts of the sponge such as the central cavity and sponge wall. Under a lighted microscope my partner and I continued to search for other parts of the Proifera, but no such luck. Overall, I didn't get any valuable skills out of that "dissection" and I didn't enjoy it.
